We're writing to let you know that updates relating to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) have now been applied in EduPay. These changes ensure the system reflects the latest LGPS requirements for unpaid leave, family-related leave and pension reporting.
We understand that some customers have been waiting for these updates and we'd like to thank you for your patience. We appreciate the importance of having payroll and pension processes aligned with the latest regulations and are pleased to confirm that the changes are now in place.
What's changed?
Updated LGPS handling for unpaid leave
EduPay now supports the latest LGPS rules for unpaid leave, helping ensure pension contributions are managed correctly based on the type and length of absence.
Employees taking unpaid leave of under 15 days will now continue to pay full Employee and Employer contributions to the pension scheme.
Automatic updates for some 50/50 scheme members
Employees in the LGPS 50/50 section who move to zero pay during eligible family-related leave will now be automatically moved to the main section of the scheme where required by LGPS regulations.
Improved pension reporting
We've also enhanced pension reporting, with unpaid leave deductions now visible in the Employee Pension Report, giving greater transparency and making reconciliation easier. This improvement applies across all pension schemes.

Do I need to do anything?
No action is required. These changes have already been applied in EduPay and will be used automatically when processing relevant payroll and pension scenarios
