SHPP can now be entered by yourselves on the calendar section, I have put a guide below on how to do this, (just ensure the
SHPP contracts have been set up first)
Click on the Shared Parental option on the calendar.
You will get up this message. For maternity contracts you will need to click on TRANSFER. (At the moment Shared Parental Leave only works for maternity contracts so do not try to use it for paternity or adoption leave).
Type in the date when the Maternity leave will end i.e. the day before they are due to return to work.
Press continue.
Ignore the message which comes up about not having entered complete weeks as once you enter the shared parental leave start and end dates it will disappear.
There is nothing to enter for the days that they will be returned to work and receiving full pay, that will happen automatically because the maternity leave has been stopped.
In this section we enter the next period when they will be NOT be working i.e. when they are taking Shared Parental Leave (no longer called Maternity Leave as they stopped that in order to return to work early).
Actual leave date is the Monday when they would be expected to come into work if they weren’t on SPL. Return to work is the Monday they will start receiving full pay again.
Make sure to choose the correct SHPP contract from the drop down box
(If partner works in same school you could copy this across to their record but it seldom applies).
Press Calculate.
Make sure it all looks OK and then press SAVE
To add another block of SPL go on to Block 1 and click on “edit”.
Do the same as above for next block.
It should end up looking like this on the calendar:
