How to calculate basic salary.

Modified on Tue, 20 Jan at 2:28 PM

Basic salary is calculated using the pay scale value and an FTE figure which tells us what portion of the payscale they would receive.

FTE (Support staff) = (hours worked/max hours on job role) x (Weeks paid / max weeks in school)

Support staff member earning £40,000/year working 20 hours per week for 46 weeks per year:

 e.g. (20 hrs/ 32.5) x (46 weeks/52.143) = 0.6153846 x 0.88218936 = 0.5428857 FTE

Step 1: Now we have calculated the FTE using above steps we can then divide the annual salary by 12.

            £40,000 / 12 = £3,333.33

Step 2: Times the monthly salary by FTE

           £3,333.33 x 0.5428857 = £1,809.62 FTE Salary.

FTE (Teaching Staff) = hours worked/max hours on job role

Support staff member earning £40,000/year working 20 hours per week.

e.g. 20/32.5 = 0.61583846 FTE

Step 1:  Now we have calculated the FTE using above steps we can then divide the annual salary by 12.

            £40,000 / 12 = £3,333.33

Step 2: Times the monthly salary by FTE

           £3,333.33 x 0.61583846= £2052.79 FTE Salary.
