To calculate Teachers Pensions Scheme (TPS) EE pension contributions you would first need to take the gross pay figure and subtract any none pensionable elements such as: Expenses or charitable donations.
Step 1: Identify pensionable Gross pay e.g. £3,250 gross
Step 2: Multiply the pensionable gross by 12 to get the yearly pensionable salary
e.g. £39,000
Step 3: Identify which of the below thresholds the salary falls under, based on £39,000 it is 8.9%
Step 4: Multiply pensionable gross by 8.9%
£3,250 x 8.9% = £289.25
