What is a PAYE Ref and do you set up a PAYE Ref for us?

Modified on Tue, 2 Dec at 2:41 PM

To automatically submit your RTI submissions to HMRC each month, we require your PAYE Reference Number, and your Tax Office Reference Number.

A PAYE (Pay as you Earn) Reference number, is your unique identifier with HMRC as an employer. This consists of two parts: a three-digit HMRC office reference, followed by a “/”, and your unique reference number (E.g. 123/A56789).

If you do not ,prior to your EduPay onboarding, have your own PAYE reference number, you will need to register for one with HMRC yourself – EduPay cannot speak to HMRC on your behalf. Please seek guidance from HMRC if necessary.
